Palakkad Tours

Palakkad derives its name from Pala (Alsteria Scholaris) tree and Kadu (forest), which goes to prove that the area was once full of Pala trees. Palakkad is located 79 km from Thrissur, Kerala on the Coimbatore-Thrissur highway. This picturesque town of Kerala is beautifully located in a gap popularly known as 'Palghat Gap' between the Western Ghats and the Nilgiri and Anamalai Hills. The climate of the district is greatly influenced by the Gap, as it enables the north-east winds to pass through it making a pleasant weather all year round.

Famous as the 'Granary of Kerala', Palakkad is extremely rich in tourist destinations. Rated among the Kerala's most picturesque districts, Palakkad has probably the biggest mountain pass in the world (about 32 km) separating the two folds of the Western Ghats on the border of Kerala with Tamil Nadu and so Palakkad is also known as the 'Gateway of Kerala'.

Malampuzha Garden: Situated on the lower hills of the Western Ghats and about 12 km north of Palakkad, Malampuzha is famous as the 'Vrindavan of Kerala'. It is popular among tourists for its picturesque surroundings and exotic picnic spots.
